Artificial intelligence is changing how offices work, and Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) staff are no exception. From drafting clearer communications to analyzing project outcomes, AI tools offer real opportunities to save time and improve quality. But these tools also bring new responsibilities. Used carelessly, they can expose sensitive data, introduce hidden bias, or produce convincing but incorrect information.
This course gives you the practical knowledge to use AI with confidence and care. You will learn what AI actually is, how generative AI works, and why terms like ”hallucinations,” ”algorithmic bias,” ”data leaks,” and ”overreliance” matter for your daily work. You will also explore the core principles that guide responsible AI use in the European context: transparency, accountability, human oversight, proportionality, and data privacy.
Throughout the course, you will see how these ideas apply to real situations in an Erasmus+ office. You will discover where AI can help, where it can cause harm, and how to tell the difference. You will work with a risk matrix that helps you decide how much oversight a task needs, and you will learn how to protect sensitive information when using public AI tools.
Special attention is given to the assessment of applications, project reports, and outputs. You will learn the rules for AI use by applicants and evaluators, why final decisions must remain human, and how to verify accuracy and originality. The course also covers the environmental footprint of AI and how to make more sustainable choices.
By the end, you will be ready to use AI responsibly, in line with European Commission guidelines and the core European values that define the Erasmus+ and ESC programs. No technical background is required—just a willingness to learn and apply these tools thoughtfully in your work.
